Monday Evening Updates

As promised, here's some fresh reading material for you, since you've now all received a passing grade after attending our short class on "Blogging 101".  I've been a little sparse with the comments and explanation of the links lately.  Making a resolution to try to explain why I include the links that you'll find here.  With that said, we are off to the races:

  • You can't get much more Right-Leaning than a blog called "Right Wing News.  They have just posted a very interesting survey of other right-wing bloggers.  The topic - The Miers Nomination.
  • After urging Americans - it's all about the President's "please conserve fuel" speech and questions whether it fits in with yet another trip to the gulf.  And it's not exactly fuel-stingy vehicles involved.
  • Arianna Fisks Russert & Broder  - and there is a great (controversial) David Broder quote on why the administration is having problems.
  • Bennett Defends Abortion Remarks - Kind of. Somewhat.  Could be digging himself deeper.
  • Bird Flu Mania! - Blogger says darn near everybody is reporting it.  And he offers up Google to prove it.
  • BOMBS AT GEORGIA TECH - and subtle similarities to the Norman, OK suicide bomber from the weekend before last.
  • Bush's Dog Whistle Doesn't Work This Time - and hot-button code words aren't working, either.
  • Hurricane Katrina: Was Killer Hurricane a Deadly Plot? - Here's the obligatory "conspiracy theory" posting for the night.  I'm not saying I buy into everything I post!
  • Lobbyists Advise Senate on Katrina Reconstruction - Bad move.  For us.  Good move.  For lobbyists/advisors.  It's just so doggone transparent.  Isn't it?
  • MIERS: BEWARE - Extensive list of articles and blogs on Miers.
  • Never-Ending Cruelty - Blogger says the Republicans slipped one past the Democrats.  Gutted the Community Services Block Grant program.  Guess who gets hurt the most?
  • The Colbert Report - Yup.  The guy from the Daily Show gets his own show!  Blogger says he deserves it. I agree.  He's funny.  And smart.
  • Top GOP candidates begging off  - Pretty much says it all.  Even the GOP is having problems finding candidates for the next election.
  • War on Iraq: "The War on Terror" -- in Translation - Left-leaning blogger translates the President's speech from last week.  From that point of view, avoid it if you're on the Right and have tendencies toward high blood pressure.  Comments, as always, welcome
  • What Does Your Religious Fanatic Look Like? - Comparing McCarthy's scare to the terror scare.
  • Who Is Really Abusing Bankruptcy Laws?  - Could it be.... Big Business?!?!?!  Nah.  Never in a million years.  They'd never do that.  Would they?
