American Pie

Wondering about the title of today's early post?  Remember the old Don McLean song?  I was sipping coffee, checking email early this morning, with Imus on MSNBC in the background.  Looked up to see he had McLean on this morning, to tout his new CD.  Imus gave him a lot of air time, enough to talk about what he's been doing for the past decade or two, and to perform several songs.  They guy can still sing!  Did a GREAT version of Roy Orbison's "Crying" and then sang American Pie.  Honestly, I'd forgotten what a huge hit that was and how it was a great example of "story telling".  Here's a great little site that walks you through each line. It'll be enough to send you looking for the song, if it's not on your Ipod already!

Now, the blogs for today's WB42 5:30 Report:

Bill Frist's troubles with his investments continues to draw the attention of many bloggers.

And we linked to a fellow Arkansas blogger, also in the media, who agreed to host video clips of our blog segment.  So, for those of you who live outside the area and want a sample of what we do on the air each day, hop on over to Don Elkin's site and take a look!

Now, what ELSE is going on today:

  • Behind the Scenes of Operation Photo-Op - I can't make this stuff up!  ANYBODY who watched that teleconference between Bush and the soldiers could see that both parties knew the questions and answers.
  • What The Heck Was That?  - More on the Photo-Op
  • More On The Latest WSJ Poll - Never as low as today's numbers. But, wait, there's more!
  • Two Percent  - Only TWO percent of black voters support Bush.  Can you say "Katrina"?
  • Keith Olbermann: 'The suspicious timing of alerts: The nexus of politics and terror'  - So, I guess we'll be adding to Keith's list.  Somebody, anybody, counter his argument.  I can't.  MSNBC just put the video of Olbermann's report online. But, make sure you read the blog.  The on-air version uses only ten examples.  The blog has more.
  • Did Dr. Evil Take Out a Hit?  - Now we have the VP at the center of the Valerie Plame leak.  Maybe.
  • Scotty's Press Conference on Harriet Miers Religion  - But it's not a litmus test.
  • Looks like the VP tried to derail the Miers' nomination - but Laura Bush won out. If you believe this op-ed piece.
  • The President's day: One high crime and two misdemeanors - Somewhat tongue in cheek piece on Miers, the President and more.
