From Assassination to Prayer

Nothing like a good religious debate to get things started.  We first posted the link last night, then talked about it today on The WB42 5:30 Report.  Pat Robertson.  Calling for the assassination of Venezuela's President.  What do you think about Robertson's statement?  Has he gone too far?  Is he off the deep end?  Or, is he right?

Here's a bit more on our friend, Mr. Robertson .

Then, we featured bloggers commenting on some articles written by actor Sean Penn after he returned from a trip to Iran.

Penn also describes a prayer service he went to - attended by 10,000 - the leader had the crowd chanting, "Death to Israel, Death to America."

It's a very grim portrait, but one you should take the time to read.

Now, some extra posts.  Just interesting reading I've stumbled across.  Interesting and in this case, perplexing. 13 percent of the girls in an Ohio school are pregnant!

This blogger says let's not forget the OTHER war.  The one in Afghanistan. Things aren't going exactly great over there, either.

The whole Iraq situation is a bit confusing, I'll admit.  I find myself having to work at keeping the Sunni Arabs and their beliefs separate from the Shiites and Kurds and trying to figure out everything that happens there impacts each of them differently.  The fight over a constitution is no different.  If you're struggling to understand it all, read this blogger.  Good explanation of why we really could be looking at Civil War in Iraq. And how WE may have pushed them in that direction.

Now, this just makes me uncomfortable. Brings back too many memories of the anti-war protests during the Vietnam War, when I cut my journalistic teeth reporting on the riots that closed the University of Iowa.  Back then it was tear gas.  Today, apparently, it is tasers.  Video included.  Watch.  And comment.
