Weekend's Over. Let the Fun and Games Begin

Lots of interesting things floating around the blogosphere on this Monday. We begin, as always, with the two blogs we mention on The 5:30 Report with Doug Krile.
First topic: Karl Rove. What did he say and to whom did he say it. Maybe even more important - WHEN did he say it. We're getting down to the nitty gritty on this one, folks.
Well it's all starting to come out. Luskin, Rove's lawyer said last week that his client "never knowingly disclosed classified information" and that "he did not tell any reporter that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA." I guess he'll use the "knowingly" excuse...
White House Spokesman Scott McClellan really tap-danced around numerous questions from reporters on this issue today. Not one answer. We'll link to a transcript, etc when it's available.
Topic Number Two: Iraq, Terror and the future. Daily Kos picks up on something we used during The 10:00 pm report Friday (it airs on our sister station in Little Rock, KYPX) - a report on how the Pentagon is changing the way it thinks future wars will be fought. Not with airborne bombs and missiles, but with individuals. And small bombs. Maybe nuclear. Maybe chemical. This blog says the same. And supports the idea by pointing out the huge increase in terror attacks around the world.
The cold statistics of a RAND Corp. database show the impact of the explosion of violence in Iraq: The 5,362 deaths from terrorism worldwide between March 2004 and March 2005 were almost double the total for the same 12-month period before the 2003 U.S. invasion.

Now, some bonus blogs. All good reading. Guaranteed. Let's serve up another Daily Kos piece. Well-written. Pulling no anti-Bush punches. You'll either cheer what he says or it's gonna make you really mad. Mostly because of the way he says it. Go read it now.
Now, a two-part special report. Works for TV News. Why not for online blogging? I don't know if this is blown out of proportion or not. Read it. Comment. But it sure does make it look like our military (ini general) is in trouble. Big trouble. And, if that's not enough, try he goes on to say that the military hospitals everywhere are in disarray. There's even a reference to Arkansas:
Hospitals in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana and eastern Texas stopped scheduling appointments for many veterans.

Want to read BOTH sides of the Karl Rove debate? Try this. The Blogometer. Massive collection of links to blogs that present just about every argument you could come up with, on either side of the debate.

And, just one more about Rove, in case you don't have time to wade through everything on the Blogometer. Check out this short blog that points out (with quotes) how Karl Rove contradicted himself about what he said and how he said it.

Now, it's time to chastise Scott McClellan. He's the fellow the White House puts in front of reporters every day so they can take shots at him. Some days they let him slide. Some days they don't. Today is apparently one where they don't. As a warmup to what happened today, consider this compilation of how Scott answered questions about Karl Rove. It's just the lack of consistency that drives me crazy!

And, just in, here are excerpts from the Press Briefing today. The parts, at least, about Rove. Analysis to follow. Stay tuned, as we always say.

UPDATE: Just one more. From the Washington Post. The White House Briefing column. If you're interested in how journalists think, this is a wonderful read. And, yes, it IS all about the Karl Rove situation.
