Thursday Blogs

The London bombings have pretty much taken over the news today. But, on the 5:30 Report with Doug Krile, we are also digging deeper in Senator Santorum's new book. One blogger backgrounds the book and offers up the follow quote to get discussion started:
“The notion that college education is a cost-effective way to help poor, low-skill, unmarried mothers with high school diplomas or GEDs move up the economic ladder is just wrong. (It Takes a Family, 138)

Another blogger challenges some of what Santorum writes. Here's a quote. It leaves little doubt that the author doesn't think much of the senator:
He is totally out of touch with the economic realities facing millions of Americans, to the point where he has publicly said he supported "making people struggle" who were on welfare.

Now, something to fit in with the London bombings. The blogger raises some very interesting points. It's lengthy. With a ton of well-documented links to supporting information. Bottom line -
Yes, yes, remember now: if we fight them in Iraq, it means we wont have to be fighting them here in America. Thats what weve been told over and over again by Bush, even very recently, as the rationalization for why we need to stay in Iraq as long as it takes.

And, lost in the deluge of coverage for the London bombings, is this little tidbit of information, headlined "US Reports Major Increase in Worldwide Terrorism. Something like a five-fold increase over the numbers released a few months ago.

And, let's not forget Karl Rove and the question of his role in the outing of a CIA operative. He now says there is "Good Reason" Rove might be indicted.
